Moca's PR 110 embankment repair wins regional Best Project award
enr.com reported on October 14, 2026, that the emergency repair of a failing embankment on PR 110 at KM 10.2 in Moca, Puerto Rico, was named its 2026 Texas & Southeast Best Project in Specialty Construction.
What the repair fixed
The award went to the project team of GeoStabilization International, Constructora Hartmann, SE, and Infinite Engineering, with the Puerto Rico Highway and Transportation Authority as owner, the outlet reported. The $2.7-million job stabilized the embankment on the northern approach to the PR 110 bridge over the Río Culebrinas.
According to the outlet, the embankment had been settling and failing, and that movement cracked the pavement on top of it. The bridge is the only practical route across the river for the surrounding community, which made the road's condition a problem for everyone who lives nearby.
The work covered about 362 meters and kept the road open under single-lane closures throughout, the outlet reported. Engineers designed the repair for a 75-year service life.
The roadway reopened in October 2025 after five months of work, and the outlet reported that the team finished on time and within budget. The repair restored a full-width road with two 10.5-ft travel lanes.
Moca's housing market
Moca recorded 14 residential sales from registered sale deeds in October 2025, according to RED Atlas, which keeps a profile of the town's market at Moca market profile.
The median recorded residential sale price in Moca was $100,000 in October 2025. That number comes from what the deeds themselves state.
Listings tell a different part of the story, because they show what sellers want rather than what buyers paid. The median asking price for residential property listed for sale in Moca was $330,000 in August 2026.
The town had 27 residential properties actively listed for sale on October 16, 2026.
For renters, landlords in Moca were asking a median of $723 a month in October 2026. That number reflects what landlords advertise, not what tenants agree to in signed leases.
